Why Choose A Pediatric Dentist?

Not all dentists who treat children are pediatric dentists! Additionally, not all pediatric dentists are board certified pediatric dentists. Dr. Amber is both a pediatric dentist and is board certified. Our pediatric specialists and staff love children and are specially trained to put them at ease – we truly love what we do! At Santa Rosa Pediatric Dentistry, we teach your children the proper way to take care of their teeth and just as important, they learn that going to the dentist can be fun.

Pediatric dentists are also trained to provide additional and more advanced treatment options that a general dentist would not have learned about in dental school. We are trained to treat a child as a whole and not to only focus on teeth. We monitor proper growth, development, and airway tissues. We work with your child to achieve goals, even if all those goals will take time to accomplish.

Dr. Amber Nierode is a board certified pediatric dentist and is a member and diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. After completing 4 years of dental school and graduating as general dentists, pediatric dentists are required to complete at least 2 years of additional training to earn their certificate in pediatric dentistry.  After earning her pediatric dentistry certificate, Dr. Nierode chose to complete the process of becoming board certified, which is a minimum of 1 year of additional studying. Becoming board certified is a voluntary, yet rigorous process of studying and examinations. It shows commitment to education and excellence in the field of pediatric dentistry.

Their training involves an emphasis on treating children from infancy to their teenage years. The additional training that pediatric dentists have allows them to provide visits that are more positive and child-focused.
